Speed Cleaning: The Best Methods for a Clean House Fast
If you’re like most people, then you don’t have enough time in the day. This can often be a problem when it comes to housework. Who has time to clean their entire house from top to bottom? It’s often overwhelming and can feel like an impossible task.
But what if we told you there was a way to speed clean your house in record time? In this blog post, we will discuss the best methods of speed cleaning so that your home will be clean in no time!
Save Time by Cleaning the Most Important Things
There are a few key areas of the house that tend to get dirtiest. These are the big, obvious things that people will notice first when they arrive at your house. Guests will be most likely to notice a house that isn’t picked up, more than a house that doesn’t have the shelves dusted.
So it’s important to focus on the areas of the house that will make the biggest impact. The living room, kitchen, and bathroom are usually the most important rooms to focus on when speed cleaning. These are the rooms where guests will spend most of their time, so you want to make sure they are clean and presentable.
Have Cleaning Products Ready with a Cleaning Caddy
It’s critical to have a cleaning caddy when you are speed cleaning. This will be a huge help to you because it will allow you to have all of your cleaning supplies in one place. This way, you’re not running around the house trying to find everything you need. You can just grab your caddy and go!
You should fill your caddy with all of the necessary tools:
- Cleaning Rags
- Drying Rags
- Cleaners
- Scrubbing Sponge
- Clorox Wipes
- Duster (or feather duster)

Speed Cleaning Tips and Tricks
There are a few things to keep in mind when you speed clean. So here are some of my most helpful tips to help you achieve a clean home…fast!
Speed Cleaning Free Printable
It’s always super helpful to have a checklist, so I’ve created a printable checklist for you to download! This way, you can make sure that you don’t forget anything while you’re speed cleaning. Just click on the link below to download it!
Don’t Get Side Tracked with Small Things
It can be easy to get sidetracked when you’re speed cleaning. You might notice that the fridge is dusty while folding the laundry, but if you wipe the top of the fridge, suddenly, you’re not speed cleaning anymore; you’re doing a deep clean! To avoid this, just focus on the task at hand. This is one of my favorite tips!
Set a Timer
One of the best tips for speed cleaning is to set a timer. Break it up into small chunks of cleaning time for each area of the house you are cleaning. This will motivate you to clean quickly and efficiently so that you can move on to the next area.
Turn on Some Hype Music
Music can be really helpful when you’re trying to clean house. It can help to pump you up and get you in the zone. Make a cleaning playlist full of your favorite fast-paced songs to help you speed clean like a pro!
Focus on the Main Areas of the House
When you’re speed cleaning, it’s important to focus on the main areas of the house that guests will see. This includes the living room, dining room, kitchen, and bathroom. You can worry about other areas of the house later.
If you need to, close a door to a messy room you didn’t get time to clean. Only spend time cleaning the areas guests will actually see.
Start at the Top
When you’re cleaning, it’s always best to start at the top and work your way down. This way, any dirt or dust that falls will land on a surface that hasn’t been cleaned yet.
Use a Laundry Basket to Gather Out of Place Items
It’s easy to take too much time putting trash and other out-of-place items away. One of the best things you can do is to get a laundry basket to fill with random items that you don’t have time to put away but need out of the main areas of the house.
Then you can deal with those items later when you have more time.
Get Everyone Involved
The famous phrase, “Many hands make light work” is definitely true when it comes to speed cleaning. Get family members or friends and put them to work!
Assign each person a task or area to focus on and have everyone pitch in. You’ll be surprised at how much can get done when everyone is working together.
Use Hot Water
Hot water can really make cleaning easier and more effective. It can help loosen dirt and grime so that it’s easier to wipe away, and it can also kill germs and bacteria.
If you’re cleaning surfaces like countertops or tables, using hot water will make the job much easier.
What to Clean in Each Area of the House
Because you are focusing on the most important when it comes sot speed cleaning, you’ll want to make sure you are cleaning the right things in each area. Here is a quick guide of what should be focused on in each room:
- Living Room: Dust all surfaces, vacuum and/or mop the floor, and clean up any clutter (throw it into the laundry basket to put away later)
- Kitchen: Wipe down countertops and appliances, do the dishes, clean the sink, wipe down appliances, and hide junk mail. Sweep and mop only if you have time.
- Bathrooms: wipe inside and outside of the toilets, wipe mirrors and countertops, and put out new towels
- Entryway: hang coats, pick up shoes and put them away, vacuum entryway rugs
